How To Check Tyre Age

Buying tyres? How do you know that they’re new & haven’t been sitting on a shelf for two years?

Look for this stamp melted into the tyre.

In this example “8PY0806” means that the tyre is an 8 ply tyre. The more plys the stronger & more resistant to punctures. “0806” means that the tyre was manufactured on the 8th week of 2006 so late February in 2006. So if you saw these “new” on special tomorrow you now know that the tyre is actually six years old.
